Omda and Welsh Ambulance Services Showcase Pioneering Simulation Solutions for Staff Welfare at Vitalis eHealth Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

6th May, 2024, Norway – Omda announces that it will present new use cases for its innovative emergency services simulation and modelling solutions at the upcoming Vitalis eHealth Conference in Gothenburg on 14 May, 2024.

Omda Senior Solutions Architect, Tef Jansma, accompanied by Hugh Bennett, the Assistant Director of Commissioning & Performance at the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST), will show how Omda Readiness, in collaboration with WAST, has improved staff welfare in emergency services, offering a transformative solution to address critical challenges.

A meta-analysis into this problem, entitled, Healthcare Staff Wellbeing, Burnout, and Patient Safety: A Systematic Review, underscored the profound impact of staff welfare on patient outcomes (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4938539/). Among the key findings, 16 out of 27 studies measuring wellbeing identified a significant correlation between poor wellbeing and worse patient safety. Additionally, 21 out of 30 studies measuring burnout found a significant association between burnout and patient safety. These findings illuminate the urgent need for healthcare organisations to prioritise the wellbeing of their employees and create safer work environments.

Omda Readiness, in close collaboration with WAST, has tackled this challenge head-on, pioneering a solution that addresses the link between staff welfare and patient safety. By leveraging Omda Readiness’s advanced simulation and modelling capabilities, WAST has been able to analyse and optimise various operational variables impacting staff welfare, including meal break duration, location, interruption rules, and end-of-shift practices and policies.

Through meticulous analysis and simulation, Omda Readiness has enabled WAST to implement targeted interventions that enhance staff welfare while maintaining operational imperatives, such as response time targets. By providing actionable insights derived from real-world data and scenario modelling, Omda Readiness has empowered WAST to create a safer and more supportive work environment for its frontline healthcare professionals.

The success of Omda Readiness in addressing the complex interplay between staff welfare and patient safety is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. By working hand-in-hand with WAST, Omda has not only solved a critical problem but has also set a new standard for excellence in emergency services management.

Join Omda for the presentation at Vitalis on 14th May, 2024, from 14:00 to 14:30. The presentation is entitled “A Model Future: Simulation Solutions and Staff Welfare in Emergency Services.”
