The completed regional rollout gives healthcare professionals across Norway’s largest health region one shared solution for managing life-critical oncology medication workflows.
Omda Cytodose is now in production across all participating hospital organisations and hospital pharmacies in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. The final go-live took place as planned, completing a rollout that began in October 2025.
South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority is Norway’s largest health region and provides specialist healthcare services to 3.1 million people. The rollout covers ten hospital organisations, 14 hospital pharmacies and approximately 3,000 users, including physicians, pharmacists and nurses. More than 2,000 treatment regimens are maintained in a shared regional library. A further 800 pharmacy production protocols have been configured in Omda Cytodose to guide the preparation of cytotoxic medicines.
One regional solution for complex clinical workflows
Medication-based cancer treatment depends on a sequence of closely connected decisions and tasks: prescribing the appropriate regimen, calculating and adjusting doses, preparing the medication at the hospital pharmacy and administering it safely to the patient. Omda Cytodose supports this complete value chain and helps clinical- and pharmacy teams work from consistent, traceable information.
All participating hospitals and pharmacies use the same regional Omda Cytodose instance. This makes it easier to share relevant information when patients receive treatment at different hospitals and enables hospital pharmacies to coordinate production and capacity. The solution is integrated with surrounding systems, including electronic patient records, pharmacy ERP systems, medication master data and compounding robots at selected hospital pharmacies.
The regional model also supports a common, continuously maintained treatment library. This contributes to more standardised care across locations while allowing healthcare professionals to apply the clinical judgement required for each patient.
A coordinated regional implementation
South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority selected Omda Cytodose following a competitive procurement process, and the contract was signed by the CEO of Sykehuspartner HF Hanne Tangen Nilsen and the CEO of Omda Sverre Flatby in September 2024. Since then, regional and local clinical teams, hospital pharmacies, Sykehuspartner HF and Omda have worked together on configuration, integrations, testing, training and local go-lives. The programme has included e-learning as well as classroom training for physicians, nurses and pharmacy staff.
The largest individual deployment in the programme, at Oslo University Hospital, went live in March 2026. The hospital’s experience highlighted both the scale of the organisational change and the importance of close cooperation between clinical and pharmacy teams.

With the regional rollout complete, the focus moves to stable operations and continuous improvement of the shared solution in close collaboration with its users.

Omda Cytodose supports oncology decision-making and medication management across prescribing, preparation and administration. The solution was originally developed with clinicians and researchers and is widely used by healthcare regions across the Nordics.
